The Nielsen Foundation Responds to COVID-19

The Nielsen Foundation has been closely monitoring the impacts of COVID-19 on our communities and nonprofit organizations. The Nielsen Foundation recently approved a $50,000 grant to Feeding America’s COVID-19 Response Fund, to support food banks providing food to vulnerable populations during this pandemic. The Foundation is also supporting additional organizations shifting their U.S. Census campaigns as a result of COVID-19, as well as anti-xenophobia and anti-hate speech efforts.

Virtual data science activities and resources are available via one of the Foundation’s signature programs, Discover Data; the Data in my Day interactive module can help support teachers and parents with e-learning needs. Finally, applications are being accepted through an April 12 extended deadline for the TechDiversity Accelerator at Tampa Bay Wave, a 90-day program designed to accelerate the growth of early-stage, tech-enabled startups led by founders from under-represented groups in the tech industry.

The Nielsen Foundation continues to assess urgent and long-term needs related to COVID-19 and will continue to share updates on our website. If you are an existing grantee with urgent needs related to COVID-19, please reach out to nielsen.foundation@nielsen.com.
